RAMEA Press Conference
Presentation by
Mr. Matthew Fogg
Executive Director, RAMEA
We have chosen to assemble here at the Madison County Courthouse today in this great City of Huntsville Alabama to call for justice from lawmakers and peacemakers in Congress who believe that our government workplaces in this city must be free of discrimination, mismanagement and retaliation under all circumstances.
The city of Huntsville is a place that many Americans can be proud of and it is one of the highest per capital income cities in the South. We believe that when civic and political leaders are made aware of what the issues are that attempt to taint this image, the good and just leaders will seek to repair the damage.
I am here to announce the damage is in the Redstone area workforce just minutes away from where we stand.
I truly wish I could say that we no longer need oversight organizations that must police those who we expect to abide by the laws of America’s great constitution.
Just as we need Police Departments, we also need organizations that will ensure justice and equality in the workplace. The NAACP, the American Civil Liberties Union, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Blacks in Government and today, the Redstone Area Minority Employees Association known as RAMEA or “RAM” were all created for that purpose.
RAMEA was chartered in this Courthouse as a vehicle of reconciliation rather than confrontation for those government employees who seek to obtain justice when the workplace has failed them.
It is no secret that in order to control the body you must start with the head. The problems we have come here to discuss starts with the management structure in the Redstone area.
The work and mission of the majority of hard working employees here in the Redstone area need to be commended. The many wonderful hard working Americans of every race, creed, and gender work for the protection and development for defense of this great nation. These employees work under the supervision of the Secretary of the U.S. Army, the Secretary of Defense and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
RAM and other wonderful organizations, along with church and community leaders are standing here today for justice and equality against those few bad apples who have infiltrated the management network of these government facilities.
Now let me speak about those bad apples.
Those few bad apples that are now strategically placed in management locations in the Redstone area are now having a devastating affect on the majority of good employees. I can tell you first hand, the affect is in the form of substantial documented allegations of mismanagement, discrimination and retaliation which will result in millions of dollars being taken from the Redstone area in misdirected funds, legal fees and damage awards.
Ladies and gentleman, the Redstone area injustices can no longer be repaired by those managers who work just minutes away from here.
The specific allegations and claims are well documented in the form of official complaints, letters, and memorandums from employees and congressional representatives for the state of Alabama.
Therefore, I will simply read you the letter that our RAM organization hand delivered to the honorable Louis J. Caldera in Washington D.C. this past Tuesday, by way of the Honorable Robert (Bob) Smith; U.S. Senator for New Hampshire. This letter will summarize a portion of the issues. Some of the complainant names have been removed for the protection of the employees.
